Rainbow over the marina

Summer is here at Nelson Paddleboard and Kayak Rentals!

Rainbow over the marina Hot summer days!

June is upon us at Nelson Paddleboard and Kayak Rentals, and it is accompanied by the sweet smell of summer. With social distancing being the norm, we are prepared for what we expect to be our busiest summer to date – what better place to be six feet apart than on the West Arm of Kootenay Lake. Our kayaks, paddleboards and canoes are thirsty for the Kootenay waters, and our freezer is filled to the brim with all the ice cream treats you could imagine.

As we all know, it is important that we continue to follow BC health guidelines while they are in place. That is why with our socially distanced activities and functional COVID protocols, this is one of the best places to beat the heat this summer.

Make your way down to the water’s edge where our friendly and knowledgeable team of marina staff await your visit. Take advantage of the breath-taking views our beautiful region has to offer, and conquer your inner longing for freedom by adventuring with Nelson Paddleboard and Kayak Rentals.

2020 The New Normal of Kayak, Paddleboard, & Canoe Rentals

Although the sweltering Nelson summer heat and the pristine waters of Kootenay Lake remain routine. There is something different about this summer season. As you are no doubt aware, this year threw a curveball at the whole world with Covid-19.  Our daily lives now changed to accommodate constant hand washing, social distancing, and sanitization of nearly everything all to stop the spread.

We at Nelson Paddleboard and Kayak Rentals, are passionate about getting outside, being active, and enjoying what this beautiful lake has to offer. We love helping our community find some fresh air and open space out on the lake. That is why we have worked hard to ensure our customers feel safe when renting from us. We follow all the necessary protocols set out by WorkSafe B.C. Making sure our equipment is thoroughly sanitized after each use; as well as encouraging social distancing wherever possible.

There is no question that the times we find ourselves in are uncertain. We feel very strongly that it is critical that everyone does their part to reduce social interactions and gatherings. There are very few activities that can be done to implement this new normal. Luckily kayaking, paddleboarding, and canoeing on the wide-open lake is an activity that can be done with minimal risk when done right. So come on down to the Prestige Marina and start to explore Kootenay Lake (or at least to cool off)!

The Final Dog Days of Summer

September 2019

The last long weekend of the summer is upon us, but it is not quite the end for Nelson Whitewater Rafting Co. We’re operating our rafting trips daily right until the middle of September, which means you still have time to get out on the river.

It has been an awesome season getting everyone  out on the Slocan River for our Scenic Float  and Facchina Rapids trip.  June was  full of high water and adrenaline junkies, with  rafts and rafters  alike being fully submerged in  the fast flowing river.  July and August were chock full of families, first time rafters and lots of white water surfing!

We also loved getting people out on the west arm of Kootenay Lake for a kayak or stand up paddle, it truly is a great activity for all abilities, and another cool way to experience life here in Nelson. Our office at the Prestige Marina will be open weekends and Matt will be here to set you up with your kayak or paddle board needs.

We saw so many happy faces this summer and hope to see some more as we wind up the remaining of the 2018 season this September, whether it is on our river trips or heading out on Kootenay Lake for a paddle.

Adventure Alliance – An Elemental Experience

Summer 2018

With safety and fun as a top priority for all four businesses, the Nelson Adventure Alliance was a logical assembly of elemental forces. Earth, Air and Water are all on the menu when visiting Nelson’s effervescent adventure scene. Have an adventure feast at any of the following businesses and receive an Adventure Alliance discount at any of the other three because it’s important to us that you make the most of your time here in Nelson.

Go underground with Cody Caves to feel the earth beneath and above you, explore stalactites, stalagmites and calcite. Slither through the depths of the mountain into pockets of geological magic and impressive passage ways. Fun for all ages, this excursion is something we wouldn’t want you to squeeze past. 😉

After the awe-inspiring and ancient beauty of Cody Caves, take to the sky with Kokanee Mountain Zipline Tours. This fully guided tour takes you through the Kokanee Creek Canyon on another level…literally. Get the penthouse tour of the stunning canopy and watch as you glide over mother nature’s finest at high speeds. If you have a need for speed and are into low contact adventure, this is just for you!

Our mountains are rich with stunning waterfalls and our valley’s filled with surging rivers. Follow Kokanee Creek to Kootenay Lake and stop in at Nelson Paddleboard and Kayak Rentals for a leisurely paddle on the lake. Located just below the heart of Nelson, it’s an easy way to enjoy the lake with a little bit of human power.

Lake paddling a little too mellow for the adrenaline seeker in you? Hop in a raft with Nelson Whitewater Rafting Co. and explore class 2- 3 rapids on the Slocan River Facchina Rapids tour. Experienced guides take you for a wild ride down one of the most pristine rivers in this corner of paradise. Safety first and fun second, this is a no brainer summer activity to beat the heat and enjoy a few laughs with our first class team. Study up before you come, the music trivia on the bus ride over is absolutely priceless.

Make sure to ask about the Adventure Alliance at any of these 4 businesses and receive a discount for any of the other Alliance Adventures.
